Japan's Far East 9 Day Wildlife & Adventure Tour 2026

Posted

Our first tour of the 2026 green season kicked off with a Japan’s Far East 9 Day Wildlife & Adventure Tour in May. Guests were delighted by the wonderful weather and the number of wildlife encounters they were able to enjoy! While the Brown Bears were a little shy this time, there were still plenty of species to discover.

Thanks to guides Yuka and Taki, who brought his camera along with him and captured a lot of these amazing shots! And of course, we’d like to thank our guests very much for travelling with us and for being such wonderful company to Yuka and Taki on this adventure.

A group of people hold binoculars to their eyes on the Kiritappu Peninsula, Hokkaido. They are looking out to sea in search of sea otters.
The tour began by searching for Sea Otters off Cape Kiritappu.
A group of people in life jackets stand on a boat and look out to sea with binoculars, searching for orcas. It is a very sunny day. The sky and sea are both blue.
Boarding a nature cruise, we set off through the blue in search of Orcas.
A group of hikers stand in a line in front of one of the Shiretoko Five Lakes in Shiretoko Peninsula, Hokkaido. They are smiling at the camera. It is a cloudless day and the mountain range behind them is reflected in the lake like a mirror.
Incredible weather and mirror-like reflections awaited us at Shiretoko Five Lakes!
A group of people admire a sulphuric vent on Mt. Io, an active volcano in east Hokkaido. The vent is neon yellow and smells like bad eggs!
The vibrant yellow sulphuric vents of Mt. Io are always a memorable sight on this tour.
A man in traditional Ainu garb in a forest makes a sign using his hands over his mouth to a tree. A line of walkers behind him watch the gesture.
As always, we learned a lot from Kengo-san, our Ainu friend, at Lake Akan.
